About

Welcome to Afro Mom Spices,

My name is Fatou, a Guinean living in Virginia. I am a working military spouse, and a mother. I was born and raised in Guinea Conakry.

During my childhood, I kept many journals. One of my favorite’s childhood memories was sitting in my bedroom and writing memories that I thought were important down. I also enjoyed going back and reading them. Everything would be dated and the timed. As an adult, I am happy to have a platform where I can share with my readers. Hopefully, you relate to a thing or two.

I am a mom of two and currently work full time. Children are the biggest blessings, and motherhood is the hardest job there exist in my opinion. Before I even got married, I enjoyed reading and learning about pregnancy and motherhood. During both my pregnancies, I thought I had read everything regarding that matter, yet both my pregnancies surprised me in a way. Reading certain blogs helped me tremendously, especially during my second pregnancy. Therefore, I would like to share my personal experiences to relate to one or more mothers/expecting mothers out there.

Growing up, I always sat by mom’s side when she was cooking, even though I sometimes thought it was a chore. The love of cooking came early to me. As an African working mom living in America, I feel as if it can be time consuming to cook our dishes when we’re already busy with work and parenting. So I will share authentic Guinean recipes, recipes inspired from all the countries I have lived in, with my personal touch and also easy to make recipes. These recipes will help the busy mommies out there but also the ones who are looking for either flavorful meals or authentic taste.

If I had to label this blog, I would say it’s a lifestyle/mommy/cooking blog. But I would prefer not to, because I want to write about everything that I think may be helpful to someone out there, with my African touch. I will share recipes and lifetime experiences regarding motherhood, living abroad, traditions and much more. Everyone will find something interesting here.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you stick around. Subscribe to my blog at the bottom of the page and join the family. Follow me on social media to stay up to date on the shenanigans of afromomspices.com
